SMITH

Freelance Journalist based in Alfreton. Began DMC whilst studying at the University of Derby. Whilst there he was approached by the BBC to cover Alfreton Town, a role which has evolved to cover several of our local Non League sides, which Josh still holds to this day.

Josh is also our main Newsreader, and can also be heard Presenting Drive on North Derbyshire Radio every weekday, and on air across the border hosting The Sports Show on TX1 and RB1 every Thursday.

Head of Sport - Newsreader

HOLLY
BACON

Holly joined us as an aspiring teenager with a love of Sport and passion for the Spireites. She is now our Head of Sport, Former Chief Chesterfield writer, and member of the Newsreading team.

Holly is stepping back from matchday coverage of the Spireites this season to focus on her studies, and will be replaced by Kurt Bigg.

Gladiators & Olympics - Newsreader

Matthew
Rhodes

Matt joined the team a few seasons ago covering Matlock Town. Since then he has become a member of the clubs official media team, with which we have a proud working relationship.

 

Matt is our Olympic and Paralympic reporter and offers unrivalled coverage of all Derbyshire Athletes, from Qualifying to Events, as well as exclusive interviews.

Along with numerous side projects, Matt is one of our Radio Newsreaders.

HUGHES

As a Chesterfield season ticket holder and qualified referee and linesman, no one could be more football mad than Danny, who has a love for lower-league football.

Danny works alongside Kurt and Matt to bring you the best in North Derbyshire Sport.

Spireites Reporter

Bigg

Kurt has rejoined DMC for the 2021/22 season after a spell away working for Chesterfield FC. 

Previously, he ran the website and was Hollys predecessor covering the Spireites. 

He replaces Holly, who is stepping back to focus on her studies, as the Chief Spireites writer.

Elliot
Steadman

Elliot is our Buxton reporter, and has been with us for a couple of seasons. He also provides live matchday coverage on the clubs Twitter feed.

A keen football fan, he will often be seen at reserve games and women's matches, as well as ground hopping across the County.

 

He is currently studying Football Journalism at the University of Derby.

Nailers Reporter

Tom 
Whewell

Tom is 27 years old, was born in Belper and lives in Belper, he has been attending Belper Town matches home and away since the age of 6. 

 

Attending all possible home and away games, when work commitments allow, Tom has set up a radio media area within the Belper Town Media centre at the Raygar Stadium for the last 3 years.

 

Tom broadcasts his Match Radio Commentary via Mixlr App, under the name of radio-belper-town-fm.

Adam
Marsden

Adam studied Journalism along with a radio production degree at the University of Chester, graduating in 2014.

 

During his time at University, he worked for Warrington Town Football Club reporting on the game and brought this experience back with him when he started writing for Derbyshire Media Company and following Staveley Miners Welfare Football Club home and away, three years ago.

Dronfield Town Reporter

David
Bell

After many years playing hockey and cricket, David travelled the local non-league football circuit and became a regular contributor to the media output at Sheffield FC.

 

A sports all-rounder, David has been the club reporter at Sheffield Sharks professional basketball team for more than ten years and joined DMC a couple of years ago to cover his hometown club.

Mickleover Reporter

Max
Martin

Max is the latest recruit to DMC. He'll be covering Mickleover FC in his first season with us, including match day coverage for the club.

 

He is currently in his third and final year studying journalism at Nottingham Trent University.

 

A big Arsenal fan, Max has watched and played football all his life and is excited to be getting involved in some non-league action.

Holly joined the team covering Borrowash Victoria, and has since moved on to Ripley Town FC, where she also provides Social Media for the club.
