Robbie Weir and Charlie Wakefield are the only two out of contract players that will stay at the Proact Stadium for the 2019/2020 national League season.
Chesterfield captain Jonathan Smith has also extended his current contract until the summer of next year.
12 players have been released following the expiration of their contracts with notably club legend Drew Talbot being one to leave the Proact.
The right-back joined the club in 2009 with John Sheridan as manager and has made almost 300 appearances, scoring 19 goals in that time.
The versatile 32-year-old has also won a pair of League Two titles and a Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but his later career has been plagued with injuries.
Bradley Barry, Jerome Binnom-Williams, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Joe Anyon, Kyel Reid, Sam Muggleton, Michael nelson, Ify Ofoegbu, George Smith, Louis Dodds, Gozie Ugwu have also left the Spireites upon the end of their contracts.
Ellis Chapman, Alex Kiwomya, Josef Yarney, Haydn Hollis and Jack McKay, meanwhile, have left Chesterfield upon the end of their loans.
Sheridan told the club website: "There were some tough decisions because the lads have done really well since we came in, but when you're a manager, you've got to make these decisions.
"We appreciate everything the players have done and they all played a part.
"Not one of them gave me a problem so I respect them for that - hopefully they'll all go on to have success and play for as long as they can."
