BLUES AIM FOR COUNTY CUP SEMI-FINAL SPOT


Chesterfield Ladies will be looking to book a place in the semi-finals of the Derbyshire Women’s County Cup on Sunday afternoon as they travel to lower-tier Ilkeston Town Ladies in the quarter-final of the competition.


Mike Noon’s side will be looking to build on their outstanding final game of 2022 when they defeated East Midlands Women’s Premier Division leaders Notts County Women 5-0 away from home to keep the title race wide open.


This is the club’s first game of 2023 in what promises to be a very exciting calendar year for the team.

The Opposition


Ilkeston Town Ladies play in the East Midlands Women’s Division One Central league which is one tier below the level Chesterfield Ladies play at.


Ilkeston are currently in second position in the league table as they aim for promotion to the East Midlands Women’s Premier Division. They’re currently two points behind league leaders Nottingham Trent University Women at the halfway stage of the 2022/23 campaign.


They’ve only lost one game from their seven league matches so far this season. In their most recent game, Ilkeston Town Ladies defeated the Notts County Women development team 2-0 away from home in the league. In their most recent home match, Ilkeston thrashed the Notts County Women development team 5-0 in the league.
