BLUES FACE OUGHTIBRIDGE IN PENULTIMATE GAME OF THE SEASON

Chesterfield Ladies will take on Oughtibridge War Memorial Women away from home on Thursday evening in the East Midlands Women’s Premier Division.

This will be the penultimate game of the season for the new Derbyshire Women’s County Cup champions.

The Blues are currently in third position in the league table but haven’t won any of their last four league games. However, confidence in the squad will be sky-high following their recent dramatic cup final victory over Derby County Women U20. A victory over Oughtibridge would guarantee Mike Noon’s side a third place finish in the league table for the 2022/23 season.

The Opposition

Oughtibridge War Memorial Women currently sit second bottom of the East Midlands Women’s Premier Division in eighth position. A win or a draw for Oughtibridge against Chesterfield would see the South Yorkshire outfit leapfrog Basford United Ladies into seventh position in the league table. This is Oughtibridge’s last match of the 2022/23 campaign.

Oughtibridge are unbeaten in their last two games. In their most recent match, they drew 1-1 at home against Mansfield Town Ladies in the league.

Their top goal scorers in the league this season are Millie Kenyon, Jennifer Pearson and Lucy Ridley who have all scored four goals in the 2022/23 campaign.

Previous Meeting

These two sides last met on the opening day of this season at the Chesterfield Panthers Rugby Club ground in the East Midlands Women’s Premier Division.

Chesterfield Ladies won the game 3-1 thanks to goals from Maddi Frances-Creaser, Georgina Williams and Georgia Willson. Lucy Ridley scored Oughtibridge’s goal.

The match was watched by a crowd of 155.
