The Opposition
Lincoln United Women are widely regarded as one of three title challengers for the East Midlands Women’s Premier Division alongside Chesterfield Ladies and Notts County Women. Due to this and the fact that this is only a 16-game league season, Sunday’s fixture is a hugely important one for both teams.
In their most recent league match on the 13th of November, Lincoln defeated Basford United Ladies 5-1 away from home. Lincoln have won four of their five league games so far in the 2022/23 campaign. Since losing 2-1 at home against Notts County Women on the opening day of the season, Lincoln have won four league games on the bounce.
Previous Meeting
These two sides last met each other on the final day of last season at Ashby Avenue. The game finished 1-1. Lincoln took the lead in the 36th minute thanks to an Elise Keyworth goal but the Blues equalised through Georgina Williams in the 66th minute. The point secured Chesterfield’s runners-up spot in the 2021/22 East Midlands Women’s Premier Division campaign.
