BREAKING: James Rowe announced as new Spireites boss

Chesterfield Football Club have announced that James Rowe is the club’s new manager.

He has signed a deal until the end of the 2022/23 season and will be joined by assistant, George Foster.

The 37-year-old joins the club from Gloucester City where he leaves them at the top of the National League North. Rowe also has experience at National League level following his time as assistant to Gary Waddock at Aldershot Town. Whilst Rowe was at the club the Shots got into the play-off places twice but fell short both times, firstly against Tranmere Rovers, then Ebbsfleet United.

Former players Kevin Davies and Lee Turnbull were on the interview panel alongside chairman Mike Goodwin, Co-Vice Chairmen Martin Thacker and Dave Simmonds and chief executive John Croot.

Commenting on the appointment on the club's website, Croot said: “We are delighted to have been able to appoint James. It is a real coup to have recruited an exciting young manager, demonstrating great vision from the board.”
