Goals from 2 new signings meant The Bucks came out 2-1 winners as they progressed in the all Derbyshire tie.
It didn’t start well for the home side as within 3 minutes Alfreton had taken the lead. A long throw from Adam Lund was headed in from Matt Rhead to give the visitors the lead.
Buxton didn’t take long to get the equaliser with an absolute wonder strike from Scott Boden. A deep cross came in from the left Boden let it bounce and from an angle looped it in over the keeper.
Whitham came back at The Bucks trying to place his shot over Hudson in between the sticks but it went narrowly wide of the mark.
Just before the break Buxton we’re putting the pressure on however couldn’t get the breakthrough as both teams went in at 1 a piece.
The start of the second half was good for The Bucks as they found themselves ahead after 5 minutes through fullback Luke Burke. Diego De Girolamo laid the ball through to Burke who hit it into the far post to give Buxton the lead.
Alfreton responded well creating chances from Wilder and Rhead firing just over the bar.
Another Player making his Debut was Matthew Hudson who was forced into a great finger tipped save over his bar to keep the home side ahead.
Tom Denton came on late for the visitors with him having the last chance of the game as he came close from a corner.
