Buxton bounce back as they advance to the next round of the FA Cup following a replay victory!

The Bucks made sure of progression to the next round this time with a 5-1 win at home.

After Sherwood came from behind to grab a 2-2 draw on Saturday Buxton came out in full force with some stunning football on display.

It only took 5 minutes before the hosts found themselves ahead with some fast flowing football that resulted in Tommy Elliott doing a layoff to Chris Dawson who ran through the middle of the defence and finished it off for 1-0.

And it wasn’t long before they got a second of the game with Elliott winning a penalty. Diego De Girolamo stepped up and slotted it past the goalkeeper for 2-0.

In the 10th minute the visitors had their first opportunity of the game with Gregory and Norcross doing some fast link up play down the right hand side to win them a corner.

Buxton continued to have the most of the ball with De Girolamo and Elliott coming close with efforts.

The possession paid off in the 42nd minute when The Bucks were able to increase the lead even more to 3-0 with De Girolamo getting his second of the game. An over the top through ball from a freekick was touched down and popped into the net.

Sherwood had the last efforts of the half as Belgrave hit a ball on the volley which Richardson dealt with well and Norcross firing his shot over the bar after being played through.

It didn’t take Buxton long to grab another and their first of the second half as Ash Chambers got in amongst the action with Right back Curley overlapping to provide a cross into the box which found Chambers to make it 4-0.

Richardson was called into action minutes later with an outstretched save following Gregory’s effort.

Chambers grabbed The Bucks 5th goal when he dummied the ball through the Sherwood defenders legs and dinked it over Turton in net.

Jamie York got The Wood a consolation goal being found unmarked in the box and finishing it off with a powerful shot for 5-1 Into the bottom right hand corner.

The last opportunity came from the visitors once again as Norcross found the head of Ingram who couldn’t direct it on target.

Buxton face Rushall at home in the next round but before that facing 2 tough away games in the league against Ashton and Warrington.
