Southport took the lead within the first 4 minutes with Micheal O’Neil hitting a wonder strike from range and hitting the post to find the net.
Jordan Burrow got brought down to ground for the first of many penalty shouts for The Bucks but the referee waved play on with Southport clearing their lines.
O’Neil yet again had a long range effort at goal this time Max Dearnley saved it with an outstretched save to deny a second goal for the visitors.
Burrow picked the ball up from some good pressure after this and then from a tight angle couldn’t direct his shot goalwards.
Southport started the second half on the front foot winning a penalty in the 49th minute. Connor Brown was adjudged to have taken down a player during a freekick and the referee pointed to the spot. Declan Evans stepped up to the spot and sent his penalty wide.
With The Bucks pressing on William Bapaga wasn’t able to get on the end of a long ball up the pitch and George Horsbury had some great link up play getting a shot off at goal that Chris Renshaw delt with well.
Craig Elliott turned to his bench for reinforcements bringing on Sam Osborne and returning from injury Eoin McKeown.
Osborne made an instant impact forcing the keeper to palm the ball away from his goal.
McKeown was also involved with a header going just wide of the goal with tithe Bucks continuing to create chances.
Late on Jake Hull was dragged down in the box in a very similar incident to the Southport penalty but it wasn’t awarded.
Into extra time The Bucks had one final penalty shout however it wasn’t to be as they fell to defeat at The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
