Buxton FC progressed to the next round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup after beating A6 rivals Matlock Town 1-2.
A Diego De Girolamo double was enough for The Bucks despite a late push from Matlock in the second half.
The Bucks started lively with a run through Conway down the middle beating 3 players before dinking a shot wide from 18 yards out.
Matlock responded well second later with Former Buck Akeem Hinds pouncing onto a short corner at goal before Kallan Murphy had the ball in the back of the net but it was adjudged offside by the linesman.
De Girolamo gave Buxton the lead in 12th minute as Brisley knocked the ball down following a corner and De Girolamo smashed it in.
Buxton continued to put pressure on with the rest of the first half being dominated by the visitors.
Their was an opportunity to double the lead shortly after the goal when Declan Poole
Crossed the ball into De Girolamo who played a layoff to Scott Boden and he fired to high of the goal.
But it wasn’t long before The Bucks doubled the lead! Harry Bunn slotted the ball through to Boden and Boden unselfishly cut the ball back instead of shooting and De Girolamo was there to fire home for his second of the game.
The last big chance of the half also fell to The Bucks as Jim Pollard pulled off an acrobatic save to deny Shaun Brisley’s header after Tommy Elliott’s freekick.
Buxton started the second half lively with Boden taking his time to compose himself before hitting a long range effort forcing Pollard into tipping the shot onto the bar.
The home side looked much improved in the second half. Church placed a ball into Theo Richardson hands after a Alex Bryne freekick.
Jamie Sharman grabbed a goal back for the hosts as he got his first goal for Matlock Town. An attempt in the box got blocked before coming out to Sharman and smashing it home for 1-2.
Matlock had the last chance of the game Jaz Goundry effort bouncing narrowly wide of Richardson in goal.
The Bucks progress through to the fourth round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.
