BUXTON SECURE MASSIVE 3 POINTS AGAINST CURZON ASHTON

Buxton secured a vital 3-0 victory against Curzon Ashton. A Sam Osborne double and a Jak McCourt penalty sealed all 3 points on the road.

The hosts dominated early on, with James Spencer beating Josh Granite, delivering a cross to Jamie Allen, but Granite recovered with a crucial block.

Buxton's early chances relied on counter-attacks, with Jake Wright driving at the defense, finding Osborne. His shot was deflected for a corner.

Loanee Joe Ackroyd burst from the halfway line, his shot deflected by Marcus Poscha into Cameron Mason's hands.

In the 24th minute, Osbornes attempted an ambitious long-range chip, narrowly missing the bar. Buxton's attacks continued, McCourt putting a dangerous cross into the box, but Wright couldn't capitalize.

The best opening of the half came in the 29th minute; Spencer's trivela shot forced Young into quick action.

The visitors took an early second-half lead. Osborne's low effort found the bottom left corner, putting The Bucks ahead.

Things worsened for the home side as Wright was taken down in the box by Poscha. The referee awarded a penalty and sent Poscha off for denying a goalscoring opportunity. McCourt stepped up, doubling the lead.

Osborne secured his brace in the 64th minute, curling the ball into the net. He almost had a hat-trick with a dipped shot narrowly missing.

Curzon had one last chance, but Young denied Jordan Richards, preserving the clean sheet.

The Bucks are next in action on Tuesday in the Derbyshire senior cup facing Derby County’s under 21s.
