In a commanding second-half performance, Chester emerged as 4-1 victors against Buxton on Good Friday.
The hosts wasted no time, taking the lead just two minutes in, as Joe Ackroyd dispossessed high up the pitch, feeding the ball to Ben Andreucci. The on-loan forward, scoring his third goal in two games since returning from injury, clinically drove the ball into the bottom corner.
Responding swiftly, the Seals leveled the score at 1-1. Joel Taylor surged down the right flank, delivering the ball to Tom Peers, whose deft flick found Declan Weeks to smash home the equalizer after just five minutes.
Andreucci came close to doubling his tally, receiving a through ball from Jake Wright, but his cutback shot narrowly cleared the crossbar.
Luke Shiels thwarted Tom Peers with a well-timed slide tackle as the forward threatened on goal.
The first half concluded with Ben Tollitt's attempt, as Peers sent him through, but his cross, seeking Peers once more, was intercepted by Aleksander Petrovic.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, the game burst into life. Chester seized the lead on the hour mark, with Harrison Burke finding space in the box, courtesy of Iwan Murray, and clinically slotting home for 2-1.
The Seals then swiftly added two more goals within the next 12 minutes. A blocked shot from Peers fell to Adam Thomas, who rifled a volley into the back of the net for 3-1.
Moments later, what seemed like a cross looped over Petrovic in the 72nd minute, extending Chester's lead further.
This proved to be the final chance of the game, as Chester aimed to maintain their momentum against playoff contenders Alfreton on Monday, while Buxton set their sights on a response against Hereford.
