Diego De Girolamo grabbed his 100th goal for the club in a 2-1 victory against top of the league Tamworth.

The Bucks had a lot of the ball in the opening stages however it was The visitors who had the first big chance of the game Jamie Jellis striking the ball and Max Dearnley was forced into an outstretched save to put the ball behind.

Tamworth were awarded a penalty on the 22nd minute with Connor Kirby taking out Dempsey Arlott- John . Ex Buck Ben Milnes stepped up and put the spot kick wide.

Buxton responded well with Sam Osborne laying the ball back for De Girolamo and he hit his shot just wide of the post.

De Girolamo fired The Bucks into the lead in the 39th minute after a defensive error had the ball fall to him and he composed himself before slotting it away for his 100th goal for the club.

The Lambs were forced into early changes with ex Buck Milnes being replacing by another ex player in Lindon Miekle and he got injured and had to be replaced as well.

Tamworth started the second half on top with a freekick curling just over the bar from Nathan Tshikuna and Jake Hull denying a goal scoring opportunity with a slide tackle in the box.

Buxton doubled their lead in the 85th minute  with a spot kick. Xander McBurnie got taken out and Kirby stepped up and despite the keeper saving the initial kick onto the post he fired home the rebound.

But the game wasn’t all over yet as the referee awarded another penalty this time to Tamworth in injury time and Ty Deacon scored to reduce the deficit.

The Bucks move into the playoff spots again ahead of their long trip to Bishop Stortford on Saturday.
