Matlock Town made two further additions to their squad yesterday with the signings of Josh Lacey and Jordan Sinnott.
Lacey is a defender and was without a club after being released by Scarborough Athletic just one day before the Northern Premier Division campaign started.
Jordan Sinnott has been signed from fellow Derbyshire rivals Alfreton Town on a free transfer. Sinnott primarily plays in central midfield.
Sinnott may also be a familiar name to some Gladiators fans as he has also previously played for Chesterfield in League Two during the 2017/18 season.
Gary Caldwell signed the midfielder from FC Halifax Town and Sinnott was a regular in the starting eleven for the first third of the season and scored two goals in eleven appearances before falling out of favour towards the end of Caldwell’s reign at the Proact Stadium.
This brings Matlock’s total number of signings since the end of last season to a whopping 16. The Gladiators find themselves in fourth position in the Northern Premier Division after a 1-0 opening day victory at home against Bamber Bridge and an impressive 1-0 victory away at Basford United.
The two new additions though clearly indicates that Matlock boss, Steve Kittrick, still felt that more strength in depth was needed for the Gladiators to carry on their impressive start into the very busy season ahead of them.
It has been confirmed that both Lacey and Sinnott will be available for selection in Matlock’s next game this afternoon away at Stafford Rangers in the league where the Gladiators will be looking to maintain their 100% start to the season.
