Mickleover host top of the table Buxton

Mickleover vs FC United of Manchester pre match

Mickleover face title favourites Buxton this weekend at The Don Amott Arena in their penultimate home game of the season.

It promises to be an extremely difficult afternoon for Sports as their opponents have not lost in their last 13 games, dating back to a defeat at Morpeth Town on January 22.

Buxton also haven't even conceded a goal in their last five games which includes three 3-0 wins and two 0-0 draws.

This extraordinary run has left Buxton two points clear at the top of the league with just three games left to play.

They deservedly sit in first in the table as Buxton boast the leagues best defence with just 34 goals conceded in 39 games, and they also have the best attack with 76 goals.

Bucks manager Steve Cunningham will be hoping his side continue their fine form and edge closer to a first NPL premier division title for the club with a victory in Derbyshire.

Mickleover lie in 13th place, still just six points clear of the relegation places after their 2-0 defeat to Gainsborough Trinity last weekend.

That defeat is Sports' only defeat in their last six games however.

Mickleover should be safe from relegation with at least one win out of their last three games and manager John McGrath will be hoping they secure safety sooner rather than later.

The last game between these two sides finished 3-1 to Buxton back on August 24.

Whilst this may look like a routine win on paper for The Bucks, Mickleover have already proved this season they are no pushovers with a notable victory over second placed South Shields not too long ago.

The game kicks off at 3pm on Saturday at The Don Amott Arena, tickets will to be available on the door.
