A total of 16 goals were scored across five league fixtures in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League on Monday and Tuesday night.

Matlock boss Dave Hoole brought his reign to an end on Monday night, after his side's 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Basford United left the Gladiators second bottom in the Premier Division table with just four points after six games, and led Hoole to resign.

The club today announced Hoole's replacement, former Lincoln United, Spalding and Gainsborough boss Dave Frecklington, alongside new assistants Terry Fleming and Chris Rawlinson.

Buxton were able to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games but were left disappointed after being unable to hold a two-goal lead at Bamber Bridge. After Bradley Roscoe and Callum Chippendale gave the Bucks a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes, the hosts staged a late comeback and scored twice in the final seven minutes of the game to snatch a point.

Mickleover celebrated only their second win of the league campaign with a slender 1-0 victory over Hednesford Town, who had previously won all their games on the road so far. The win takes the Sports up to 15th in the Premier Division.

Gresley have had a pleasing start to their East Division campaign after a close call with relegation last season, but they were unable to build on recent good form and fell to a second successive defeat at AFC Mansfield. Despite taking an early lead through Martin Smyth, Brad Wells and Nick Guest turned the score around for the hosts and left the Moatmen in mid-table.

Belper, meanwhile, remain winless in September after being frustratingly denied a second win of the season by Stamford, who cancelled out Kai Hancock's opener with a late equaliser through Jon Challinor.
