NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PREVIEW: BUXTON TRAVEL TO KIDDERMINSTER AGAIN

Buxton are on the road again as they face Kidderminster for the third time this season with a 3pm kickoff on 2nd November 2024.


The Bucks


The Bucks go into this game after winning 2-0 against Radcliffe on Tuesday.


Late goals from Connor Kirby and Diego De Girolamo meant The Bucks made it 3 wins from the last 3 games.


Following the victory manager John McGrath said:


"I am delighted. They've been three different kinds of performance against Chester, Needham and now Radcliffe. We had to dig in against Chester, you saw our free-flowing style against Needham and tonight it was a mixture of both.


"We stuck to our task and produced two great goals. As the game wore on I felt more and more confident. We've a strong squad and the players we brought on from the bench added value in every way.


"It was hard work but that's what I want t see, what the fans want to see. We look forward to heading down to Kidderminster next."


Opposition


The club finished 22nd in the National League last season getting relegated.


They play their games at The Aggborough Stadium.


Kidderminster won The FA Trophy in the 1986/87 season and were runners up in this league in the 2016/17 season.


The club have a few nicknames such as Kiddy,The Harriers, Carpetmen and The Reds.


They currently sit 8th in the league on 21 points from 13 games.


In their last game they beat Peterborough Sports 1-0 with Amari Morgan-Smith scoring the goal for the visitors.


Ex Derby County and Hull City manager Phil Brown is now in charge at Kidderminster after taking the role at the beginning of the year.


One to watch

Amari Morgan-Smith is a 35 year old forward who has been with the club since 2020.


He won the National League with Cheltenham Town and the Fa Trophy with York City.


In 2010-2011 he was capped twice by the England C team.


Last Time Out


You don’t have to go back far to find when these sides last faced with this being the third time they have come up against each other this season.


In the FA cup replay between the sides at the beginning of October Kidderminster came away 2-0 winners after the tie at the TSS was a 1-1 draw with Kieran Burton scoring for The Bucks.


Last time they faced in league action was in 2023 with Ashley Hemmings scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory for Kidderminster.
