NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PREVIEW: BUXTON WELCOME SPENNYMOOR TO THE TSS


UP NEXT:


Buxton play their last scheduled Tuesday league match of the season as they play Spennymoor at the TSS.


The Bucks


The Bucks go into this game after a 7-0 demolition away at Oxford City at the weekend.


A brace from both Brennan and Johnston as well as first goals for the club from Martin and Sangare was also added to by Kirby in a big win.


Following the win manager John McGrath said:


"A result like this has been coming.Everyone was really positive and it was a great three points.


The boys know that the season's run-in is massive for us.


Brilliant that the goals came from all over the pitch and skipper Connor Kirby's goal was particularly satisfying.


It was an all around performance from the squad. On Tuesday we go again to host Spennymoor, and we're now top scorers in the league."


Opposition


They play their game at The Brewery Field which has a capacity of 4300.


They are based in County Durham and were formed in 2005.


Their manager is Graeme Lee who took charge in January 2024. Lee played over 200 times for Hartlepool and as well as managing the Pool he has also managed Marske.


They are nicknamed The Moors.


Spennymoor United merged with Evenwood Town to form Spennymoor Town.


They reached the National League North for the first time in 2017 winning the Northern Premier League Premier Division playoffs.


The club are in their best run in the FA Trophy where they are in their semi finals after beating Sutton United 2-0 in the last round


Glen Taylor is their record goalscorer and has over 200 goals for the club.


They won the FA Vase in the 2012-13 season beating Tunbridge Wells in the final


Last season they finished 9th in the National League North.


They currently sit 12th in the league on 51 points from 34 games.


In their most recent game they drew 1-1 with Peterborough Sports.


One to watch

Ben Pollock is in his second spell at the club after returning in February for an undisclosed fee from Chester.


The 27 year old is a defender who won Boston United’s player of the season in the 2022-23 season.


Last Time Out


Earlier on this season it was a 1-1 draw with Luke Brennan’s goal cancelling out Aiden Rutledge’s opener.


Last time at the TSS it was a 2-0 win for Spennymoor with Rob Ramshaw and Will Harris scoring for the visitors.
