UP NEXT:
Buxton return to league action on Saturday, 14th December, with a unique twist. They face Farsley Celtic in a 3pm kickoff at the Silverlands Stadium – the home of The Bucks – but as the away team.
This unusual arrangement comes as Farsley Celtic continue their temporary ground-sharing at Buxton while their home ground undergoes the installation of an artificial pitch.
Interestingly, the two sides have already met at Silverlands earlier this season, with Buxton as the designated home side.
The Bucks
The Bucks go into this game after progressing through to the Quarterfinals of the Derbyshire Cup beating Chesterfield 3-0.
Following the win manager John McGrath said:
“ We were very good, in spite of the awful weather. It was about attitude and the lads were up to it. Although we changed personnel, we played the same way as always and it was impressive to watch.”
"Our young opponents from Chesterfield worked really hard and contributed to a thoroughly entertaining match. Our own youngsters did us proud. It shows how strong we are, not only within the usual squad, but at under-21 and Academy levels."
This match saw both Dylan Mantle and Connor Brady make their competitive debuts for the first team after impressing in the under 21’s and academy.
Opposition
The club finished 20th in the league last season surviving relegation on the final day of the season.
Their manager is Pav Singh who took over when Clayton Donaldson left in September of this year after previously being the Director of Football at the club.
They were the Northern Premier League Premier Division champions in the 2018-19 season.
They play their games at The Citadel which has a capacity of 4000.
The club are nicknamed The Celt Army.
They currently sit 20th in the league on 20 points after 20 games.
They lost their last game 4-1 to Oxford City.
Their game in midweek against Gateshead in the FA Trophy was abandoned after an injury to their captain Lewis Turner.
One to watch
Rudy Misambo is a 30 year old defender who has been with the club since the summer of 2023 after joining from Lancaster City.
He is a strong defender and is a big threat from set pieces with his commanding height.
Last Time Out
These sides have already met this season and have already met at The Silverlands.
Buxton left it late with Josh Popoola scoring the winning goal in the reverse fixture after Ben Sault’s goal was cancelled out by Ben Atinkson.
Last time when Buxton were the away side was the final day of last season when Farsley stayed up after winning 2-0 with goals from Tom Allan and Isaac Asseno.
