NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH REPORT: BUXTON SHOW DOMINANCE PUTTING 7 PAST NEEDHAM MARKET

Buxton put seven past Needham Market with a hat-trick from Tommy Elliott on an unforgettable afternoon at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium for the Bucks.

Elliott opened the scoring just 10 minutes in, finishing past the keeper after a long ball forward from True Grant, who assisted from his position in goal.

Shortly after, Cian Coleman grabbed a quick double for his first goals in a Buxton shirt. The midfielder, on loan from Leeds United, first struck from distance, with his shot deflecting into the corner, and then netted his second by beating a defender after receiving a ball down the line from Josh Popoola, making it 3-0 in the 23rd minute.

Needham Market responded with a goal from Nico Valentine, who capitalized on a defensive lapse by Buxton.

However, the home side restored their three-goal lead when Popoola broke down the line and delivered a low, driven pass for Elliott to slot home his second of the game, pushing the score to 4-1 in the 34th minute.

Elliott completed his hat-trick just six minutes later with a composed finish into the corner, thanks to a well-placed pass across from Ethan Fitzhugh.

Captain Connor Kirby joined the scoresheet before the half, curling a direct free-kick into the top corner to cap off a dominant first half, leaving Buxton with a commanding 6-1 lead at the break.

Though the second half didn’t bring as many goals, Diego De Girolamo added to the tally in the 88th minute. Coming off the bench, he latched onto a through ball from Elliott, sealing an emphatic 7-1 victory.
