NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH REPORT: BUXTON WIN AWAY AT THE SILVERLANDS AGAINST FARSLEY

Luke Brennan’s stunning brace earned Buxton a hard-fought victory in a unique encounter at The Silverlands Stadium, where they played as the away side due to their groundshare with Farsley Celtic.

Despite the unusual circumstances, The Bucks wasted no time asserting their dominance. Early pressure saw Jack Stobbs whip in a dangerous cross that forced Farsley keeper Kieran Flavell into action.

Moments later, a clever corner routine led to a deflected effort from the edge of the box, which Flavell handled comfortably.

The Farsley shot-stopper remained busy, making a solid save from Josh Popoola’s strike from distance as Buxton pushed for the opener.

Farsley, however, threatened on the counter. Dylan Youmbi’s  flick released Bailey Sloane, but the effort was tame and was easily gathered by Buxton goalkeeper True Grant.

The hosts were handed a golden chance to take the lead in the 36th minute when Kieran Burton was penalized for handball in the box. DJ Sturridge stepped up but dragged his penalty wide, much to Buxton’s relief.

The Bucks wasted no time punishing the missed opportunity. Five minutes later, Brennan unleashed a breathtaking 25-yard strike, rifling the ball past Flavell to give Buxton a deserved 1-0 lead at halftime.

Buxton maintained their momentum after the break, and Brennan doubled his tally just three minutes into the second half. His curling effort from the edge of the box nestled perfectly in the top-right corner, leaving Flavell stranded and putting the Bucks in firm control.

Farsley pulled one back in the 59th minute when Finn O’Boyle was fouled in the box by Burton, who left a trailing leg. This time, Youmbi made no mistake from the spot, calmly converting to make it 2-1.

The game turned scrappy as both sides battled for control, with fouls disrupting the rhythm and yellow cards being handed out.

Farsley pushed for an equalizer, with Isaac Abankwah’s dangerous cross and Connor Ferguson’s well-delivered free kicks testing the Buxton defence.

Deep into added time, Ferguson unleashed a strike from the edge of the box, but Grant dealt with it comfortably, ensuring Buxton clung to their hard-earned three points.
