NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH REPORT: THE BUCKS SUFFER DEFEAT TO THE LINNETS

Greg Taylor’s goal was the difference as King’s Lynn secured a 1-0 win, with Buxton finishing the game with ten men.

Buxton had the first big chance when Will Trueman’s cross found Tommy Elliott, but his header went over the bar.

The visitors soon had a chance of their own as Freddie Sass picked out Matty Warburton, whose header also cleared the crossbar.

For a long spell, there were few clear chances, with Buxton seeing more of the ball. Ross Crane had a shot after cutting inside, but Paul Cooper gathered it comfortably.

The game came to life just before halftime. Johnny Johnston was denied one-on-one by Paul Jones, and Daniel Ogwuru saw a shot blocked in the area as Buxton pressed for the opener.

Early in the second half, Elliott won a free kick on the edge of the box, but Connor Kirby’s strike was blocked by the King’s Lynn wall.

The Linnets went close in the 65th minute when Kyle McFadden’s flicked header went just wide.

Four minutes later, they took the lead as the ball fell to captain Greg Taylor on the edge of the box, and he found the bottom right corner to make it 1-0

Buxton almost responded immediately, but Johnston’s shot was cleared off the line acrobaticly by a Kings Lynn player to keep them ahead.

Their chances of a comeback took a hit in the 75th minute when Kirby was shown a second yellow card for a pullback, leaving Buxton with ten men.

Despite this, they kept pushing for an equaliser. In added time, a goalmouth scramble saw Oliver Ewing and Faisu Sangare have shots blocked, but King’s Lynn held on for the win.
