Mike Fondop has joined Chesterfield on a one-year-deal, subject to receiving international clearance.

The 25-year-old left Wrexham yesterday after his contract was cancelled ‘by mutual agreement’.

The Cameroonian found the back of the net five times in the first nine games of the 2018-19 season, but he was loaned out to Maidenhead in February.

During his spell in Berkshire he made 11 appearances with one goal to his name, also making an appearance against the Spireites on the final day of last season.

He has played for a few clubs before joining Wrexham, including Halifax Town, Oxford City and Guiseley.

Speaking to the club website, Fondop said: "I’m very excited and there couldn’t be a better club than Chesterfield because we all know the history of Chesterfield.

“I want to get started as soon as possible. I want to help the club get back into the Football League. I’ve been working on my fitness so I feel fresh and really fit. I’m ready to start straight away.”
