A great second-half performance from Buxton secured a 2-0 victory against local rivals Macclesfield.
Buxton almost took an early lead after just 2 minutes when a trialist was put through on goal by Ben Sault, but he was adjudged offside with the flag up on the far side.
The Silkmen had their first chance of the game in the 20th minute from a low-driven shot by Luke Duffy, forcing True Grant to make an outstretched save.
In a half with little action, Laurent Mendy recovered well to stop Sault from breaking away and getting an opening against ex-Buxton keeper Max Dearnley.
Ethan Mann’s header went into the side netting just before the break, leaving the score all square.
Macclesfield came out strong in the second half, with a quick passing move between four players that ended in Duffy’s volley going straight into the grasp of Grant.
Danny Elliott then opened up his body on the edge of the box, with his shot hitting the outside of the post as the hosts edged closer to scoring.
But it was Buxton who took the lead in the 59th minute after Sault used a burst of speed to beat his man and slotted it across to Josh Popoola, who tapped it into an empty net.
The momentum continued for the visitors, with Sault having a powerful shot saved by the Macclesfield goalkeeper.
Macclesfield was handed a lifeline when the referee pointed to the spot after he felt that Kieran Burton had handled the ball inside the area. John Rooney stepped up to take the penalty, but Grant guessed correctly, diving to his bottom left-hand side to deny the forward.
In the 83rd minute, Buxton sealed the victory with Sault winning the ball back high up the pitch and getting it out wide to Ethan Fitzhugh, who finished around the keeper to make it 2-0.
Buxton has now kept five clean sheets in a row and faces Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.
