Matlock Town look to bounce back from their shock Derbyshire Senior Cup semi-final defeat to South Normanton Athletic on Tuesday as they host Whtiby Town in the Northern Premier League.
Opposition
Whitby come into this game on the back of some fine form in the league with them picking up their third win in a row last weekend against Stafford. The club is nicknamed the Blues and they play their games at the Turnbull Ground. They currently sit in ninth place, seven points of the play-offs.
They have picked up midfielder Jordan Hickey on loan for the rest of the season from Hull and he could make his debut tomorrow.
New Additions
Matlock have been busy this week bringing in two new signings both of which can play on Saturday to help with the injury hit squad.
The first being winger Jude Oyibo who has played under Phillips a few times at his former clubs and rates him very highly as a player. Oyibo left Buxton in December to join Alfreton Town but has been very limited with game time. He played very recently in Derbyshire Senior Cup quarter-final defeat against the Gladiators.
The second signing being Ellis Roberts. Tall and strong, Roberts joins from Southport and will also be in line to make his debut against the Blues.
Phillips has hinted that he might look at also bringing another new face to help bolster the squad.
Team News
Despite the new additions, Matlock Town still have a long list of injuries with key players missing in an important phase of the season.
Nathan Valentine, Jon Stewart, Luke Hinsley, Jack Rea, Spencer Harris and assistant manager Brian Wilson are all absent.
Elliot Goldthorp has also had his spell with the Gladiators cut short as he has gone on trial with League One Sunderland.
On a brighter note, captain Adam Yates got through Thursday's training session after a bout with tonsillitis.
Last Time Out
At the Turnbull Ground, the Gladiators raced to a comfortable 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture.
Dan Bramall, Luke Hinsley and Marcus Marshall were all on the scoresheet as Matlock continued their good start to the season.
