Preview: Bucks in search of first win as they face Blyth

Up Next

The Bucks are at home again as they face Blyth Spartans at 3pm on Saturday 26th August.

The Bucks

The Bucks go into this game following the 1-1 draw to Curzon Ashton last week after Smarts goal in the first half was cancelled out by a Matthews equaliser.

Following the draw manger Craig Elliott said:

"Couldn't praise the team enough in the first half, playing good football and limiting the opponents to very little.  Then we died in the second half, not sure why.

We have players who are not at peak fitness for varying reasons but I'm not making excuses. We should have won that one today.

We are starting to get players back, thankfully, and it will be good to have full selection choices. We want positive results now, to get the season started properly”

Opposition

Blyth won their last game against Hereford 2-1.

They currently sit 3rd in the league on 9 points after 4 games.

Their manager is Graham Fenton who as well as playing 116 games for The Spartans played in the Premier league for Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City. Fenton took the job after being sacked from South Shields in January.

The club finished 19th in the league last season.

They play their games at Croft Park which has a capacity of 4435.

One to Watch

Cedric Main is my one to watch this week after he rejoined The Spartans on loan from York this week.

The fast pace striker netted 4 goals against The Bucks in an FA Trophy game in November last season.

Last time out

Brad Jackson got a double and Sam Osborne got a goal as The Bucks won 3-0 in late January.
