PREVIEW: Chesterfield take on Woking in league clash

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

The Spireites look to bounce back from Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Hartlepool by conquering the Cards at the Technique Stadium.

The Opposition

The Surrey side have got off to a perfect start with two wins from two. These came against Solihull Moors and Weymouth.

Alan Dowson guided his side to a 10th place finish in their first season back in the National League following a one-year spell in the National League South which saw them promoted via the play-offs.

One-To-Watch

Slavi Spasov - The 18-year-old is currently on loan with the Cards from Oxford United.

In September 2018, the Bulgarian made his senior debut for the Us in an EFL Trophy fixture against Fulham U21s when he came on as a substitute and scored a penalty to become the club's youngest ever scorer at the age of 16 years and 226 days.

Spasov has started Woking’s first two games this season and found the back of the net on Tuesday night against Weymouth.

Previous Meetings

The two sides have only met on one occasion which was last September when the Cards claimed a 2-1 victory at the Technique Stadium. Chesterfield were due to travel to the Kingfield Stadium for the reverse fixture at the end of March.

Team News

Nathan Tyson remains a doubt for Saturday’s game: “It is a little bit slower than we thought.

He has done some training today and he looked okay so we will have to see how he is tomorrow.

Scott Boden will serve the first of his three-game ban, following his red card on Tuesday night.

New signings Alex Kiwomya and Tyler Denton could be set to feature if they were registered in time.

Pemberton’s Thoughts

“Woking have a good manager, a good squad and a very good team spirit. I want us to start like we did on Tuesday night and we’ve got a good chance.
