PREVIEW: Derby host Blackburn in Sunday Championship action

Derby County will welcome Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn Rovers to Pride Park in the latest game of the Championship weekend.

A win for the away side will see them leapfrog Preston in sixth and occupy the last play-off place by goal difference.

The Opposition

Blackburn come into the game in decent form, losing only once in ten but struggling to get maximum points in a large percentage of those games.

With playoff rivals playing the day before, the Rovers will be desperate to get all three points especially given results on the Saturday.

Previous Meetings

The two sides met in December, where Adam Armstrong’s second half strike denied the Rams in another case of away day struggles that have plagued Phillip Cocu’s side all season, despite the match itself being evenly poised on the balance of play.

Team News

Derby are awaiting news on Tom Lawrence and Andre Wisdom’s availability for the game, with the former taking a heavy knock midweek in FA Cup action and the latter being ill throughout the course of the week.

Derrick Williams and Darragh Lenihan are set to be unavailable again for the visitors in the defence, whilst Bradley Dack, Lewis Holtby and Corry Evans are more long-term absentees for Mowbray’s side.
