PREVIEW: DERBYSHIRE CUP ACTION IN REPEAT ON LAST SEASONS FINAL

Buxton take on Derby County’s under 21s in the quarter final of the Derbyshire senior cup a repeat of last years final.


The Bucks


The Bucks go into this game following a 3-0 victory against Curzon Ashton at the weekend.


A double from Sam Osborne and a goal from the spot from Jak McCourt meant The Bucks picked up all 3 points.


Following the victory manager Craig Elliott said:


“A good performance and a real team effort, in control throughout."


"Our travelling fans were great as well, such a bonus for us. Next we look forward to the visit of a Derby County side and we'll be picking a team to win."


Opposition


The club sit 25th out of 26 in the premier league 2 league after picking up 7 points from 12 games.


They lost their last game to local rivals Nottingham Forest and were reduced to ten men after 48 minutes.


Alex Gibson-Hammond will be unavailable for The Rams having played for The Bucks previously in this competition.


Their manager is Jake Buxton who had a 7 year period as a player at the club.


One to Watch

Max Bardell is a 21 year old defender who joined The Rams academy having previously been at Manchester City and Huddersfield.


In the second year of his scholarship with the the club he captained the under 18s side .


He was part of the young Derby County squad that played against Chorley in the FA Cup in January 2021 playing 73 minutes.


He has also been an unused substitute twice when Derby were in the championship.


Last Time Out


Goals from Diego De Girolamo and Connor Kirby late on were the difference as The Bucks won 2-1 at Pride Park to win the trophy last season.
