PREVIEW: In-form Eastleigh visit the Technique


Chesterfield will look to return to winning ways after suffering the second defeat of James Rowe's tenure on Saturday away at Stockport County.


However they will come up against tough opposition in Eastleigh.

One-To-Watch

Tyrone Barnett- The experienced forward has enjoyed a long career and has represented seventeen different clubs. Barnett started off in non-league with Rushall Olympic after being released from West Bromwich Albion as a youngster. In 2010 he earned a move to the Football League where he joined Macclesfield Town and linked up with one of his former Hednesford teammates.


Whilst at Crawley Town Barnett signed on an emergency loan for Peterborough United with a £1.1M deal agreed for the Summer and highly impressed on his debut. The forward went on to represent a number of lower league clubs before dropping back into non-league to sign for Eastleigh in August 2019. Last season he was Spitfires’ top scorer with 12 goals in 39 and this season he is joint top scorer on 7.


Previous Meetings

Chesterfield’s last visit to the Silverlake Stadium became memorable for Shwan Jalal’s heroics in goal. The ‘keeper made some excellent saves and Chesterfield claimed a 2-0 win, with Tom Denton and Jonathan Smith getting their names on the scoresheet.


Last time Eastleigh visited the Technique Stadium they went home with three points after beating the Spireites 2-1.


Team News

Tom Whelan returns after serving a three-game suspension following his red card against Dagenham and Redbridge.


Nathan Tyson may be handed a place on the substitutes bench after returning from injury.


New signing Fraser Kerr could also come into the fold after penning a deal until the end of the season earlier today (Tuesday).


Weston’s Thoughts

The new club captain spoke to the media ahead of Tuesday’s game, he said: “It’ll be a very tough game and a physical one as well. They are going to be physical, but we are as well.


“We are strong and hard to play against, so I think we’ll match that. We are going to have to graft and win our individual battles.”
