The Opposition

Dean Keates’ side are currently 8th in the National League, nine places and only four points above the Spireites. They come into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory at home to struggling side Dover.

Dan Jarvis- The young midfielder began his career at Stoke City, signing for the Staffordshire club professionally in 2017. Jarvis represented the Potters in their PL2 campaign in 2019 and was previously involved in the first team setup during pre-season under Mark Hughes. The 22-year-old arrived at the Racecourse ground in January 2020 and signed an 18-month contract.


Previous Meetings

The two sides have met many of times over the years, most notably in the FA Cup Quarter-Final when Chris Beaumont scored for the Spireites to send them into the semi.


Last season the two sides met four times. Chesterfield travelled to the Racecourse ground on a Tuesday night in the National League and went home with all three points thanks to Michael Chambers' own goal. In the FA Cup 4th qualifying round clash played on the following Saturday the score finished 1-1 meaning Chesterfield travelled to Wrexham two Tuesday nights running but were beaten this time 1-0. The league encounter at the Technique Stadium was a memorable affair which saw Curtis Weston’s late winner secure all the points for the Spireites.


Team News

Tom Denton will be out of contention due to a knee injury. He is also isolating at the moment after testing positive for Coronavirus.


Rowe’s Thoughts

The Spireites gaffer said: “We are really looking forward to the game against a Wrexham team who were in great from in November. They dipped off a little bit but picked up a win most recently against Dover.”
