Chesterfield face Ebbsfleet United at the Proact Stadium in a relegation six-pointer as the Spireites look to lift themselves out of the drop zone.
The Opposition
Kevin Watson’s side sit 22nd in the National League, one place and four points behind the Spireites. Ebbsfleet are unbeaten in their last four league games. Last weekend they claimed a 1-0 victory over bottom of the table Chorley.
One To Watch
Gozie Ugwu - The former-Spireite is Ebbsfleet’s top scorer this season with 9 goals. He joined the Spireites in 2017 from Woking where he scored 17 goals.
The 26-year-old made 19 appearances for Chesterfield before loan spells at Boreham Wood and Ebbsfleet. The striker joined United on a permanent basis in June 2019.
Previous Meetings
Earlier on this season the points were shared at Stonebridge Road when the teams drew 2-2 with Scott Boden and Haydn Hollis getting the goals for the away side.
Last season saw the two sides share some landmark games. The first encounter saw the Spireites claim their first ever National League win in their first ever National League game.
The second meeting was a classic at the Proact Stadium. Chesterfield were 3-0 down at half time but Will Evans 95th minute equaliser and penalty save four minutes secured an improbable point in John Pemberton's last game in his first spell as caretaker manager.
Team News
John Pemberton has once again reported that there are no fresh injury concerns heading into the important clash at the Proact Stadium.
Pemberton’s Thoughts
John Pemberton spoke to the press after being appointed as Chesterfield manager until the end of the season.
He said: “My goals are still the same and everybody knows it’s until the end of the season now.”
On Saturday’s game Pemberton said: “We have to start well and show enthusiasm. We’ve been training at a good tempo. The players are in a better place mentally and I can get a sense of that they are looking forward to playing games now.”
