PREVIEW: Spireites look to return to winning ways against King’s Lynn

Chesterfield take on the Linnets at the Technique Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for 28th December but was called off due to positive COVID outbreaks.

The Opposition

Chesterfield look to condemn King’s Lynn to a third consecutive defeat. They lost to Wrexham at the weekend and Dagenham & Redbridge the previous weekend. Ian Culverhouse’s side sit three points above the drop zone in 20th.

Adam Marriot- The forward started his career in the Norwich City academy but joined Cambridge United at the age of 15, making his first team debut three years later. He endured loan spells at Cambridge City and Bishop’s Stortford before joining the former on a permanent basis in 2012. Marriot went on to make an impression, scoring 57 goals in 69 appearances which earned him a move to the Football League with Stevenage. When his contract expired at Stevenage the striker joined Lincoln City and helped them win promotion to the Football League. He was also part of the team that reached the FA Cup Quarter Final. The 29-year-old spent time with Royston Town and Boston United before signing for the Linnetts in October 2018 when they were in the Southern League Premier.

Tom Whelan serves the first of his three game ban after being sent off against Dag & Red on Saturday. Tom Denton and Joe Rowley are out of contention due to injury.

"We won't take them (King’s Lynn) lightly, they're a good side and have lots of strengths. It's a big night for us tomorrow after two away draws, we need to now follow those results up with a home win.


"They move the ball really well, they're expansive in and out of possession and they score goals. I'm looking forward to the game, it will be tough."
