PREVIEW: Spirietes host Wealdstone

Chesterfield look to make it three wins on the spin when they take on strugglers Wealdstone at the Technique Stadium.

Town have won their last two games in impressive fashion after beating both Woking and King’s Lynn Town 4-1.

The Opposition

The Stones have failed to find the back of the net in their last 6 games however their problems appear to be at both ends of the pitch having conceded 20 goals in those 6 games.

Their last win came midway through April when they beat fellow strugglers Barnet 5-1 at home however Stuart Maynard’s side have failed to pick up three points on the road since 10th November when they claimed a 2-1 victory over Halifax Town at The Shay.

One-To-Watch

Jacob Mendy- The 24-year-old is Stones’ top scorer this season with eight goals. The left-back played a key part in Wealdstone’s National League South winning season. Prior to this season, the wide-man had never played at National League level after joining Wealdstone from Carshalton Athletic who play in the 7th tier.

Previous Meetings

Chesterfield were supposed to travel to Grosvenor Vale on the opening day of the season however the game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The rescheduled game took place at the end of October with the home side coming out on top. Tom Denton’s brace wasn’t enough for Chesterfield who were beaten 3-2 thanks to a Moss Emmanuel double and Jacob Mendy winner.

Team News

James Rowe revealed that Fraser Kerr will be out until the end of the season due to the ankle ligament rupture he suffered against Woking.

The Spireites boss also reiterated that the injuries to Gavin Gunning and Curtis Weston will need to be ‘managed’.

Rowe’s Thoughts

"We've had two good victories but we need to give Wealdstone respect. They ran Bromley extremely close on Tuesday and it will be a tough game.

"It's in our hands and that's what you want, we're really looking forward to the next three games. We have to finish the job off now, we're really excited for fans to return next week too."
