Preview: The season starts for The Bucks as they take on Local Rivals Matlock Town

UP NEXT:

Buxton travel down the road to Matlock to take on The Gladiators in the first of their pre season games.

The new Bucks

The Bucks go into this game with Craig Elliott shaping up his squad with 9 new additions

Jordan Burrow was the first signing through the door after arriving from Boston.

Burrow spoke about how important the manager at the club was having played under him previously.

“The main pull for me was first and foremost how well they did in the league last year, obviously just missing out on the playoffs. I knew it was an ambitious club and I’m from the local area in Chesterfield so I know quite a bit about Buxton.

“I’ve been looking at how they’ve been progressing from afar over the past few years and I’ve played against the club. I’ve also worked with the management staff before and they know everything I can offer and they trust me and I trust them.

“What they’ve said to me and what they like, we can work on together, so all that grouped together, it was a good match.”

Luke Shiels also arrived on the same day from Boston. Shiels is a 33 year old centre back who was captain at his former side.

Jake Wright became the third Boston player to sign for the club within a week. Wright is a striker who has previously had promotion from the National League North with Harrogate Town  in the 2017-18 season.

Max Hunt was next in joining from Yeovil Town. Hunt is a tall strong defender and has previously been at our A6 rivals Matlock.

Forward Eoin McKeown became signing number 5. Eoin scored 21 goals in 46 games for Tamworth and won the Southern Premier Central with them last season.

Experienced midfielder Curtis Weston came in after spending last season at AFC Fylde.

He was an FA Cup runner up in 2003-2004 with Millwall in which they lost 3-0 to Manchester United.

After Theo Richardson left to join AFC Fylde The Bucks had to search for a replacement keeper and found that in Max Dearnley from Farsley Celtic. Dearnley  who stands at 6ft5 has previously been at Huddersfield, Scarborough and Halifax as well as others.

Sam Smart was next coming in after leaving Halifax Town. The quick winger had spent time in the National League North last season having been at Brackley Town.

And the last of the new faces so far was fullback Nathan Newall. Newall was at Sunderland and had a spell in the second half of last season at Darlington.
