PREVIEW: Town take on high-flyers Hartlepool

Chesterfield take on Hartlepool United under the BT Sport cameras at the later time of 5:20.

The Opposition

Dave Challinor’s side are unbeaten in 15 and have won 14 of their last 15 games on home soil. At the weekend they put 7 past Wealdstone with Richie Bennett scoring a hattrick however the striker has returned to parent club Stockport County.

One-To-Watch

Rhys Oates- The 26-year-old is joint top scorer with 11 goals so far this campaign. Oates started his career in the youth setup at Barnsley and spent time on loan at Gainsborough Trinity, Stockport County, Grimsby Town and Chester before signing permanently at Hartlepool. The forward made 99 appearances and scored 12 goals before being loaned out to Gateshead. After his release from Hartlepool Oates joined Morecambe for a short period of time before returning to Victoria Park for his second spell with Pools.

Previous Meetings

The reverse fixture was Chesterfield’s first game of the season. Tom Denton took the lead for the Spireites in the 53rd minute from the penalty spot before a Will Evans own goal and Ryan Johnson strike meant Pools took home the points.

Team News

James Rowe revealed that Jak McCourt is back in full training. He said he is ‘managing’ both Curtis Weston and Gavin Gunning.

Rowe’s Thoughts

“I think we can influence the game ourselves. I admire the way they play but I think we can go there and get all three points.”
