Buxton FC battled to a goalless draw against Worksop Town, marking their second consecutive 0-0 result.
True Grant was forced into punching away an early effort from Worksop in just the 2nd minute.
Worksop continued to press, with Liam Hughes forcing Grant into a close-range save at the 9-minute mark, earning his team a corner.
Diego De Girolamo saw an opportunity in the 17th minute, spotting Taylor off his line, but couldn’t quite direct his shot on target.
Worksop hit the post following a freekick in the 20th minute a sign of their attacking intent.
Buxton began to grow into the game as they looked increasingly dangerous in their forward play.
Grant was called into action again in the 35th minute, claiming a low cross from Worksop’s right back.
A minute later, Buxton earned their first corner, which was comfortably claimed by Tommy Taylor.
There was a brief break in play at the 39-minute mark with Connor Kirby down receiving treatment. He returned to the pitch his head strapped up.
Buxton ended the half strongly, with a promising passing move in the 45th minute, but De Girolamo’s cross couldn’t quite reach Ben Sault.
All level at the break, the second half started with drama. In the 52nd minute, Sault's pace saw him taken out by ex-Buxton player Shiels, who received a straight red card, reducing Worksop to ten men as he was the last man.
A dangerous cross in the 69th minute wasn’t able to find anyone on the end of it.
Kirby hit the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the box in the 73rd minute, after a pass back from a Trialist.
Kirby had another chance shortly after this with a dipping shot after good work from Liam Ravenhill.
Worksop came close again in the 87th minute, hitting the post from a freekick. Grant made a fantastic save to push the ball onto the box and then deny the follow-up shot.
