REPORT: PRE SEASON FRIENDLY Buxton lose to Rossington on the road

The Bucks fell to defeat against Rossington Main in their second preseason losing 3-1 to the Doncaster based club.

Buxton started on top in the opening stages and were knocking the ball about well playing some quick passing football.

Will Trueman did some great work and got the ball through to a Trialist who fired over from close range.

It was Rossington that took the lead though after 12 minutes when they broke with pace and their striker Manasse Kianga finished it off round the keeper to make it 1-0.

The Debutant of Jack Stobbs down the left hand side proved key for Buxton putting lots of crosses into the danger zone and 3 minutes after going behind he found the incoming trialist to get the score back level at 1-1.

Again Rossington responded straight away with a passing move and putting the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out by the offside flag.

A ball from Josh Williams found the head of Djavan Pedro in the box and he couldn’t direct it on target as it went out for a goal kick.

The Bucks were forced to play the final minutes of the half without defender Josh Popoola after he came off through an injury he sustained after being tackled.

An early chance in the second half came to a trialist for Buxton forcing the keeper into a low down save to keep the score level.

Buxton did have the ball in the net with Ethan Fitzhugh getting it off a trialist and the linesman had their flag up for offside with both sides having a goal ruled out.

Cody Prior on his right foot in the box put the ball wide as he looked to retake the lead.

It didn’t take long after that though until they did make the score 2-1 Mitchell Langton on the edge of the box fired in to restore the lead for Rosso.

In the 73rd minute Paul Sherburn hit the post and it fell to the feet of a trialist for the home side and he fired it in for 3-1.

The Bucks now face Leek Town on Saturday with 1 win and 1 loss so far in preseason.
