Neither team could find a breakthrough with Chesterfield and Boreham Wood largely cancelling each other out to share the points at Meadow Park.
James Rowe made one change to the side that beat Wrexham 2-1 at the weekend. Forward Marcus Dinanga made way for Joe Rowley.
Rowley looked lively from the off and made a superb run into the box, weaving in and out of the Wood defence a quarter of an hour in but his resulting strike went wide of Nathan Ashmore’s goal.
At the other end Wood top scorer Kabongo Tshimanga nearly capitalised on a Spireites mistake. Adam Pryzbek spilled the ball which got tangled in his legs but it was retrieved by the ‘keeper before Tshimanga could pounce.
28 minutes in James Rowe was forced to make his first substitution. Rowley went down after a challenge clutching his hamstring and was replaced by Liam Mandeville.
The home side carved out the best chance of the first half just before the break when Junior Morias’ strike flew inches over the bar.
The Spireites started the second half the better and had a few half chances through George Carline and Mandeville but couldn’t find an opener.
Just before the hour mark Luke Garrard made a double substitution which allowed the home side to control more of the possession which was beforehand dominated by Chesterfield.
In the 72nd minute Morias had the ball in the back of the net for Boreham Wood but it wasn’t to count. Tom Champion squeezed the ball through the Spireites defence finding Morias who fired into the net but the linesman’s flag was up.
Neither team could break the deadlock and after a battling performance Chesterfield went back up the M1 with a point.
