REPORT: Storming Spirietes claim comfortable win over Lynn

James Rowe made five changes to the side which was victorious at Woking. Jak McCourt, Josef Yarney, Alex Whittle, Adi Yussuf and Jack Clarke came in to replace Curtis Weston, Fraser Kerr, Joe Rowley, Marcus Dinanga and Tom Whelan.

Chesterfield made it back-to-back victories after securing a 4-1 victory over King's Lynn Town at the Technique Stadium.

The home side came close to taking an early lead when Jak McCourt’s effort from the edge of the area cannoned off the crossbar.

At the other Lynn went close when a header from Tai Fleming’s free-kick looped onto the roof of the net.

The Spireites found their breakthrough in the 33rd minute through Yussuf, who bundled home from close range after a pinpoint cross from Manny Oyeleke.

However the visitors responded instantly after a McCourt mistake allowed Sonny Carey to race through and slot past James Montgomerey to level proceedings.

Just a few minutes later Chesterfield re-gained their lead through George Carline. The wing-back struck the ball low and hard which took a deflection and decieved Lynn keeper Theo Richardson.

In the 41st minute Carey looked to put his side back on level terms when his free-kick from the edge of the area forced Montgomery to tip over the upward.

Two minutes into the second half Chesterfield extended their lead. Clarke’s deep corner was headed back across goal by Laurence Maguire and bobbled around before falling to Yarney who smashed home.

Chesterfield got into the groove and added a fourth in the 54th minute through Danny Rowe who scored his first goal for the club. He got off the mark in tremendous fashion; a thunderous 30-yard free-kick into the bottom corner.

James Rowe’s men managed the game well and restricted the visitors to minimal opportunities despite horrendous weather conditions.

Man in the middle Andrew Miller made the sensible decision not to add on any time with the rain and thunder continuing to descend on the Technique Stadium.

Chesterfield: Montgomery; Yarney, Gunning (C), Maguire; Carline, McCourt (Whelan 69’), Oyeleke, Whittle (Evans 74’); Clarke; Yussuf (Dinanga 66’), Rowe
