After a disappointing defeat on the road, the Trojans aimed to get their campaign back on track, welcoming the challenge of Silsden to Inkersall Road.
Two changes were made to the side that made the trip to Barton on Saturday, Mark Dudley returned to the starting eleven in place of the suspended Gary Mundy. Jordan Claxton was named on the bench in place of Charlie Oglesby.
It was the Trojans that started in the ascendancy and the hosts were unlucky not to have taken the lead when Robson Doolan's effort hit the cross bar on its way out.
It was, however, the visitors that struck first, Khurram Shazad scoring his seventh goal of the season, calmly placed his effort past Myles Wright.
It was just four minutes later when Silsden's top goalscorer, Laurence Surhaindo took advantage of a rare mistake in the Trojans defence to double the visitors lead.
With the sides around Staveley in the league having their games fall foul to the weather, it meant the Trojans were preparing for arguably the biggest 45 minutes of their season so far.
Staveley continued to control the game and Michael Burke gave the fans hope as he scored with just over 20 minutes left of the game.
This wasn't to last, though, as six minutes later, Shazad got his second of the game to restore the visitors two goal advantage, this time with no reply from Staveley.
It's the first time Inkersall Road has tasted a home defeat in the league since the last game of the 2018-19 season.
It is also the first time that the Trojans have lost back-to-back in the league since April 13th. Attention now turns to Saturday, where Trojans fans are hoping Marshall's men can get back to winning ways as they welcome Garforth Town to Inkersall Road.
