A solid Bucks performance gets a point against league leaders Scunthorpe

Buxton defended strongly to pick up a point at the Tarmac Silverlands stadium against Scunthorpe.

New signing Max Brogan had the first opening of the game for The Bucks his shot from the edge of the box being saved by Ross Fitzsimons before Dylan Mottley-Henry rebound couldn’t be squeezed in.

Connor Smith and Kian Scales both had shots that forced Max Dearnley into action with a low driven shot being saved down low  and a deflected shot being collected quickly.

With 10 minutes to go from the break a ball over the top came to Jake Wright who headed it wide however the linesman had the flag up for offside anyway.

The Bucks number 1 had to make a big save just before half time with Danny Whitehall trying his luck from distance.

Scunthorpe started the second half on top with a cross not quite being able to find their forward and Smiths low driven shot going narrowly wide.

Wright was lucky to not pick up a second yellow card in the 57th minute for a foul on Smith.

Ex Derby county player Jacob Butterfield had one of his signature shots tipped over and off the bar behind for an Irons corner.

The Irons continued to put pressure on with defender Will Evans firing a shot in the box past the post.

And the visitors thought that had the opener when Whitehall touching it then half volleying it into the back of the net but the Linesman had her flag up for offside to rule it out.

A penalty shout in the closing stages was denied for Buxton after Mottley-Henry got taken down in the box and the game ended in a stalemate.
