Bucks reach 10 unbeaten against league leaders

A last minute penalty from Diego De Girolamo grabbed Buxton a point as they drew 2-2 against AFC Fylde.

In a game in which the home side had to come back from behind twice Fylde opened the scoring in just the first minute. A Nick Haughton 30 yard effort came in on the underside of the net to give them the lead.

Buxton responded well with Warren Clarke breaking on a counter attack and getting his cross into the box cleared away.

The Bucks continued to pressure with a passing play that came to Brad Jackson who cut in before putting in a low driven effort at Chris Neal in goal.

Tommy Elliott capitalised on the pressure to add their lead. Max Conway swung in a cross to the incoming Elliott who headed it into the right hand side of the net.

Fylde had the last chance of the half with a shot that Theo Richardson was able to deal with.

Buxton started the half on the front foot with handball shouts  being waved away from Joe Ackroyd’s shot early on.

Max Conway broke away on the 55th minute as he tapped it past the defence and was taken out by Harry Davies who picked up a yellow card.

A free-kick floated into the box was headed by Alex Whitmore across goal for Siya Ligendza to turn in from close range to restore the lead for the visitors.

The Bucks kept going with substitution Scott Boden hitting a volley which Neal collected.

Richardson kept Buxton in the game late on as a counter attack lead to him saving a chip shot.

And Buxton we’re able to get a point from the game in the last minute as Elliott got taken out in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. De Girolamo stepped up and despite the keeper getting a hand to it managed to get the ball in for 2-2.

The Bucks are now 10 unbeaten and face Banbury away on Saturday.
