Buxton bounce back from defeat with a win against Boston


Buxton returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 1-0 victory against Boston United.


Connor Kirby’s goal late in the second half was the difference as The Bucks picked up 3 points.


Sam Osborne came close in the first minute with a cross/shot effort being tipped over by The Pilgrims keeper to deny an early lead for the home side.


Max Conway had a similar attempt 5 minutes later that went over the keeper and hit the woodwork before having to be cleared away.


A passing move won The Bucks a corner in which the ball went just over the head of Jake Hull.


With Buxton continuing to put pressure on Diego De Girolamo tried a chipped shot from a tight angle that Cameron Gregory saved behind.


Jordan Burrow had a header go narrowly wide for the visitors best chance of the game so far and Connor Brown put it in a great block again just before halftime to stop Burrow.


Boston started the second half with a Jake Wright shot going into the side netting after a throughball from Finely Thorndike.


Hull almost gave Buxton the lead from a header after Jak McCourt’s corner found him and he hit the crossbar with his effort.


Buxton did find the lead however in the 76yh minute. Brad Jackson got the ball into the box to De Girolamo who laid the ball off for Connor Kirby to smash home.


Theo Richardson was forced into a save late on from substitution Tre Mitford to hold on to the 3 points and bounce back from defeat on Friday.
