Buxton fall to defeat after 2 late Tamworth goals


Tamworth claimed the top spot in the league with late goals by Jamie Jellis and Kyle Finn meant they won 2-0.


The Bucks initiated the match with assertive play in the midfield, showcasing skillful passing.


The game saw its first chance in the 24th minute when a free-kick was laid off to Diego De Girolamo. His low, driven shot was saved by Jaz Singh.


Luke Shiels rose high, securing a header after a corner, and Singh parried the save before gathering the ball.


Despite possessing much of the ball, The Bucks were all square at halftime.


Tamworth's quick throw-in at the 55th minute almost caught Buxton off guard.


Finn found space, but his curled shot narrowly missed the post.


The referee dismissed penalty shouts

after Acquaye went down in the box.

Tamworth seized the lead in the 82nd minute as a rapid attack found Jellis, whose shot deflected past Max Dearnley, making it 1-0.


Buxton nearly equalized through Tommy Elliott, but a Tamworth defender blocked the late attempt.


With Buxton pressing forward, Tamworth broke, and Finn's right-sided shot hit the post and sealed a 2-0 victory, securing all 3 points.
