Buxton progress to the first round of the cup

Buxton progress through to the 1st round of the FA Cup as they beat Hyde United 2-1 after a Scott Boden double.

Hyde started the match well with a freekick from Adam Dawson just inside the half catching out the scrambling Theo Richardson and hitting the bar.

The Bucks first chance of the game came from Tommy Elliott with an in swinging freekick having to be punched away and cleared from Dan Atherton and Javid Neavin.

After a scramble in the box the ball fell to Eddie Brown who hit his shot but Richardson anticipated it well to get down to save it.

The Tigers continued to put pressure on as Richardson had to tip Jordan Fagbola’s header onto the bar.

And Hyde did take the lead just before half time as Tom Pratt’s header was saved well from Richardson and the ball fell to Jack Redshaw who fired it in from close range.

Buxton started the second half well with Burke crossing the ball into the head of Boden with Atherton saving a Kirby winning a corner.

The home side continued to push on winning corner after corner but not being able to grab the final finish.

Scott Boden got the equaliser from the spot after Tommy Elliott was taken out by Atherton. Boden stepped up and the keeper did get a hand to it but it managed to squeeze in for 1-1.

This gave Buxton the confidence they needed to go and grab the second as Elliott crossed the ball into the outstretched Boden who got a touch for 2-1.

Buxton did see out the win as late on Boden had another opportunity and are into the first round draw.
