Buxton win final home match of the season

Buxton FC emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Bishop FC in the final match at The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium this season.

The game started quick as Luke Shiels attempted an acrobatic overhead kick for Buxton, narrowly missing the target. However, his game was cut short due to injury, leading to an early substitution with Josh Granite stepping in.

Bishop Stortford responded with Darren Foxley having an effort from 25 yards out and firing his shot just wide of the mark.

Brogan came close for Buxton with a promising break and shot, only to be denied by a fine save from Stortfords goalkeeper.

In a game that didn’t mean much for either side with The Yellows already relegated and Buxton unable to progress further in the league the game lacked a lot of action in the first half.

Max Hunt ended the half with a strong volleyed attempt after a corner challenging the opposition goalkeeper.

The second half saw Buxton take the lead in the 62nd minute, with De Girolamo capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Bishop to slot the ball round the defender and the goalkeeper into the back of the net.

In the 80th minute, Buxton extended their lead when Livingstone's precise cross found Wright, who headed home emphatically.

Harry Beadle was forced into a late goal-line block  to deny Wright from getting a third. With Buxton picking up all 3 points in the final home game of the season ahead of the Derbyshire Cup final on Wednesday.
