Mickleover looking to continue fine record against Stalybridge Celtic

Up next for Mickleover is Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday at 3pm, as they look to build on last weekend’s victory over Atherton Collieries and put their bad form well and truly behind them.

Mickleover won the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Andy Dales and Stuart Beavon, in what was their first away win of the season and put an end to a 10-game winless run.

On the other hand, Stalybridge lost their previous game 2-1 against Bamber Bridge, meaning they have lost their last two games.

Stalybridge are five points ahead of Mickleover and find themselves in 10th place with a record of seven wins, nine losses and no draws.

Stalybridge, although they are 7 places above Sports who lie in 17th, have lost one more game than Mickleover. Only two teams have lost more games in the league this season than Stalybridge.

The Celts have conceded just one less than Mickleover, but they have scored 11 more.

Sports are looking for their fifth win of the season and their first at the Don Amott Arena since the end of August against Hyde United.

Stalybridge manager is former Wales international Simon Haworth, he has been in the dugout for the Celts since 2018. In an impressive playing career, he made appearances for Cardiff, Coventry, Wigan and Tranmere before a double leg fracture in 2003 forced him to retire and go into management at 27.

Mickleover have won the last three times they played against Stalybridge, most recently winning 3-1 in December 2019.

Mickleover vs Stalybridge Celtic kick off is at 3pm this Saturday at the Don Amott Arena.
