Diego De Girolamo had 2 early chances for The Bucks. The first picking the ball up from a flick on and the second a passing play found him on the edge as he went close again.
Scott Boden from an angled volley hit the side netting with Buxton putting a lot of early pressure on.
Alfreton’s first big opportunity came with Danny Preston’s cross evading everyone across the goalmouth.
The last big chance came to Dayle Southwell who was denied by Theo Richardson’s save at the near post.
Buxton started the second half on the front foot with Connor Kirby’s missed header at the far post from a cross.
They then continued to dominate as Tommy Elliott set up De Girolamo who hit his shot just wide of the mark.
Boden then added to the chances in the second half with Elliott putting the ball through to Boden who fired it over the bar from 8 yards out.
Alfreton almost grabbed a winner from a free kick but it was to late as the first game of 2023 ended all square.
