Buxton fall to 4-0 defeat on the final day against Chester.
Early penalty shouts were waved away for Chester who started on the front foot.
A shot from the edge of the box from Dudley came narrowly wide of the mark.
Before Josh Granite made a clearance off of the line after Caton beat Theo Richardson to the ball before getting his shot off towards The Bucks captain.
Richardson pushed out a freekick opportunity from Declan Weeks and with all the pressure Dudley managed to loop a header over into the goal to make it 1-0.
Dudley then turned creator passing the ball to Kieran Coates who cut back to cross it to Caton, he hit the post the ball travelled all the way across the line and Whitehouse fired it in at the far post.
Buxton started the second half better Diego De Girolamo hitting a shot on target after bringing the ball down and the Chester keeper collected.
Charlie Caton came close to adding a third with another shot being blocked off the line from The Bucks defence.
Substitute Kurt Willoughby almost got a goal after a miss placed pass from Josh Granite led him running through on goal and Willoughby’s low driven shot didn’t have the power to find the back of the net.
The hosts did find 2 goals late on, with The Bucks falling to defeat on the final day.
Weeks played a through ball to Caton who calmly finished it into the bottom corner of the net for 3-0 then Kelly Nmai picked up the ball after his initial freekick pinballed in the box and he fired it in for the 4th.
Buxton’s late playoff charge came to an end but what an amazing first season in the National League North it has been for The Bucks.
